Cleanout/drain pipe is iron with female thread, is it OK to thread on ABS?
I asked this question a few months ago and I’ve finally gotten around to seriously tackling this. I want to add an outdoor patio sink and use the galvinized iron cleanout pipe as the drain. I can remove the plug which is male threaded. Can I simply thread on an ABS pipe without any sort of special coupling or anything? I think I’ll have to use teflon tape but I figure drain lines aren’t high pressure so it should be OK, right? Of course, I’ll add an appropriate cleanout plug in the ABS run.
